The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants is an independent professional body of Chartered Accountants in the U.K. It was founded in 1904 and is the largest to operate on an international basis. It awards its own qualification after successful completion of the ACCA examinations and three years of practical experience.

Course Objectives
ACCA is not only about accounting. You will also develop a range of skills and knowledge in finance, taxation, audit, management, law, banking, economics and information systems.
The financial and technical experience you will gain en route to the ACCA qualification ensures that you can work anywhere: the accounting/auditing profession, the government, semi-governmental organizations, the banking sector and any type of local or international business.
What is a Chartered Certified Accountant? A Chief Executive, a Senior Partner, a Finance Director, a Bank Executive, a Top Civil Servant, an Entrepreneur? Once qualified, there are no limits.
Entry Requirements
A number of entry routes are available which take into account different qualifications and recognise your previous achievements.
Professional Examination Route (PER)
For entry to ACCAʼs Professional Qualification, you must be at least 18 years old and meet at least one of the criteria shown below:
(a) Diploma de Bacalaureat- Sufficient for Registration
(b) Secondary Vocational Diploma from upper secondary school- Sufficient for registration
(c) 2 UK A - levels and 3 GCSEs (5 separate subjects including English and Mathematics), or equivalent
(d) LCCI – 3 Higher level passes and 2 Intermediate level passes (5 separate subjects including English and Mathematics)
(e) RSA – 3 Advanced passes and 2 Intermediatepasses (5 separate subjects including English and Mathematics)
(f) CAT level B (complete)
(g) AAT (UK) Intermediate (complete)
(h) Degree (from a recognized institution in any subject).
For those who do not meet the PER criteria above, there is an alternative method of entry explained below:
Mature Student Entry Route (MSER)
For entry to ACCA’s Professional Qualification via the MSER you must be over 21 years old. You must also pass Papers M1 and M2 (equivalent to Papers F3 and F2) within two years from the date of your first eligible ACCA examination session. You will then be able to transfer to the main student register.
Course Duration
The course duration depends upon your background and hard work. If you are a University graduate you are entitled to exemptions from the examinations and the average period is usually 1-2 years.
If you are a high school graduate, the average completion period is usually 3-4 years. You will need to complete 14 papers in total. A maximum of nine papers in the fundamentals level are available for exemption.

Important Dates
For Registration:
June Sitting: You must register not later than 31 December of the preceding year.
December Sitting: You must register not later than 15 August of the same year.
For Exemptions:
June Sitting: You must apply by 31 January of the same year.
December Sitting: You must apply by 31 July of the same year.
Examination Rules
1. Students can sit up to four papers at each sitting, but papers must be sat in the order given.
2. Optional Papers:
(a) Students may attempt either one or two optional papers in any order at one examination session.
(b) Option papers may be changed at a subsequent examination session.
(c) Students are required to complete the essential papers before attempting the option papers.
3. Essential Papers:
(a) The three essential papers may be taken in any order.
(b) They can also be sat with:
(i) an outstanding paper from Skills (provided both Option papers have been passed), or
(ii) one of the Option papers provided another option paper has been passed.
4. All students will have 10 years to complete the examinations, from the date of their student registration.
