The CΙA Program
The CΙA Program Minimize

Introduction

The Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) training program is addressed to the professional who would like to pursue the worlds premier certification in Internal Auditing. The CIA training program is based on the detailed requirements of the CIA syllabus and leads to the award of the CIA designation by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) of the United States of America.

Whilst more than 40,000 internal auditors from more than 100 countries worldwide hold the CIA designation, in Romania the number of individuals having this prestigious title is limited. This fact makes the CIA one of the most sought-after professional qualifications by those professionals who have the commitment and determination to reach the top.

Course Objectives

The IIA's premier certification is the CIA designation.

The CIA title reflects competence in the principles and practices of internal auditing and serves as the only internationally accepted designation for internal auditors.

Attaining the CIA designation outwardly signifies your achievement and commitment to the profession. Whether you choose to stay within the field of internal auditing or move up within your organization, the broad-based understanding of business, risk, and control required of CIAs will serve as an invaluable base of knowledge.

The CIA qualification is awarded by the IIA after successful completion of the CIA exams and 2 years approved practicing experience.

CIA candidates are required to complete 24 months of internal auditing experience or its equivalent. Equivalent experience means experience in audit/assessment disciplines, including external auditing, quality assurance etc. Related business professions (such as accounting, law or finance) can be substituted for one year of experience, but candidates will not be certified until the experience requirement has been fully met.

Individuals who pursue the CIA title earn one of the most prestigious professional qualifications in the world and have, amongst others, the following advantages:

■ High quality training in all aspects of internal audit

■ High career prospects as highly qualified professionals

■ Confirmation of their potential to reach the top.

Entry Requirements

CIA candidates must hold a Bachelors degree or its equivalent from an accredited college-level institution.

In addition, certain international professional designations such as ACCA, ACA and CAT are accepted as equivalent and, additionally, may grant their holders exemption from Part IV of the examinations.

Applicants who do not possess a Bachelors degree and who are unsure whether their educational achievements or professional designation qualify as equivalents, should submit related educational/professional information with

their application and include a cover letter requesting review by the Board of Regents of the IIA.

Course Duration

Candidates have an initial eligibility period of two years after their registration is approved. In addition, each time a candidate sits part of an exam, his/her eligibility period is extended for two years from the date of that exam. A candidates eligibility expires only if the candidate does not take a single exam within any two-year period. If a candidates eligibility expires, the candidate loses credit for any part or parts passed and must submit a new application form in order to take future examinations.
